Camp site - Wo? / Where? / Kie? / Gdje? / Kde? / Dónde? / Où? / ...

Das Camp findet statt in der Nähe von Kautzen. A-3851 Kautzen liegt in Niederösterreich nahe der tschechischen Grenze.

The camp site is near Kautzen. A-3851 Kautzen is in lower austria near the czech border.

Google-Map (beware, Big Brother)

OpenstreetMap (free map, contributions welcome)

Driving from Kautzen towards Tiefenbach turn left "into the woods" after crossing Taxenbach river; driving from Tiefenbach towards Kautzen take the next small way right "into the woods" after ~200m. (Remember not to leave your car "in the woods"!)

Travelling possibilities / Reisemöglichkeiten

Reaching the camp-site is a bit involved...

By car / Mit dem Auto

From the west: head towards Gmünd --> Schrems --> Heidenreichstein --> Kautzen --> Tiefenbach; just after crossing Taxenbach and before reaching Tiefenbach turn left into the woods, get your luggage out of the car and drive back to the street for parking
From the east: head towards Krems a. d. Donau --> Waidhofen a. d. Thaya --> Dobersberg --> Kautzen; just after passing Tiefenbach turn right into the woods, get your luggage out of the car and drive back to the street for parking

By train and bus-shuttle / Mit dem Zug und Bus-Shuttle

from Vienna / von Wien

The next bigger town nearby is Waidhofen/Thaya and has a train station.

You have essentially two possibilities:

  • You travel to Waidhofen and take a bus to Tiefenbach (directly at the camp-site), see this table.
    • You can also go to Kautzen or Dobersberg, which involves a walk of a few kilometers.
    • Attention: Public transport directly to Tiefenbach is not available on weekends, and not after 6 p.m..
    • In Waidhofen you have to find the way from the railway station to the bus stop: walk on Bahnhofstrasse -> on main-street turn to left (it's again Bahnhofstrasse) -> turn right at the next crossroads (into Vitiser Strasse) -> turn to left (into Gymnasiumstrasse). Cf. the google map).
  • Or you travel to Waidhofen, call us, and we pick you up there with the bus shuttle.
    • Here is the table for the trip to Waidhofen.
    • As you see, there are few connections where you will arrive with the train.
    • Please try to arrive at 12:40 or at 16:40. This reduces efforts and costs, since we can pick up more people at once.
    • Call the camp phone ~1 hour before you arrive in Waidhofen (whether at 12:40, 16:40 or any other time) and tell us where you arrive (at the train station or at the bus station).
    • The number of the camp phone is: xxxxxxxxxxx (to be announced soon)

More information on public transport is available from http://www.oebb.at.
